Fried Green Tomatoes

A Southern-style appetizer you can always rely on!

The crispy crunch and the delicious tang of a fried green tomato is hard to resist.

My family loves the perfect crunchy, juicy mix that fried tomatoes provides!

  1. Slice tomatoes 1/2-inch thick. Discard the ends.
  2. Whisk eggs and milk together in a medium-sized bowl. Prepare two separate plates: one with flour and one with cornmeal, bread crumbs, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip tomatoes into flour to coat. Then dip tomatoes into your milk and egg mixture. Finally thoroughly dip in cornmeal, breadcrumbs, and seasonings to finish coating.
  4. Heat oil in a large deep skillet to medium heat and place tomatoes in oil in batches of 4 or 5.
  5. Fry until crisp and golden brown on one side, then flip and fry on the other side.
  6. Transfer fried tomatoes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
